• Announcements allows the author to display regular announcements to the visitor. The announcements module shows a portion of an article allowing the user to scan for content that is most relevant to them.
• Each announcement can be linked to either a local link (e.g. another page in your website), and external link (e.g. a page on a external site) or to a file (e.g. a PDF document that can be downloaded).
• Each announcement can be set to expire on a certain date. Setting an expiration date can be vitally important when posting specials offers or date sensitive material and the announcement will automatically disappear after the expiration date.
• The module also offers the option to syndicate the content (via RSS), allowing you to feed your announcements to other websites.

How To

1. Click the Add New Announcement link.
2. Title: Enter a title for the announcement.
3. Description Enter a short description for the announcement.
4. Link (optional): adds a read more hyperlink to a file, image or web page. If no link is required, select File Link: None Specified.
   • External Link: (Links to another web site in the same browser window): Select External Link, then type or paste in the address of the linked website. E.g. http://nexxus.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=1.
   • Internal Link: (Sets a link to a tab on your portal): Select Internal Link, then select a tab from the drop down list.
   • File Link: Set an Link to a file on your website:  Select File Link, then select a file from the drop down options, or upload a new file.
5. View Order (optional) Allows you to order the announcements. By default, announcements are displayed in the order they are created.  Insert a number here to override the default order.
6. Expires: Expiry date sets the announcement to automatically expire the next day. Enter the day of the month, select the month, then enter the year.
7. Syndicate: To include an announcement in a news feed of this module, click the check box then click the Syndicate link below.  Note, the announcement should be updated, before it is added to syndication.
   Syndicated news feeds (see News Feeds module for more information) can be created for one or more announcements from the module. The HTTP Address for the syndicated news is shown below.  Enter this address into the News Feeds module (News Feed Source / External) to syndicate.
8. Click Update link.

View Options

The view options for the announcements module include the ability to make the announcements scroll.  Note that this only works for Internet Explorer browers.
